Directions
You can park for free in the lot by the Broad Center. We will give you a permit to place on your car.
When you get to the Broad Center, take the elevator to the basement, turn right out of the elevator and then left at the end of the hall. Come to Room 57. The phone number at the lab is 626-395-4899 (call this first) or 626-395-5757.
Here are some guidelines that are intended to maximize the quality of the measurements we will be making, and thus to maximize your contribution to our study. Thanks very much for looking them over and for giving them your attention.
Please pay attention to your caffeine intake (coffee, coca cola, tea, etc.). If you are a regular caffeine drinker, then please have your regular caffeine on the day you come in for the study, no more and no less. If you are NOT a regular caffeine drinker, please do not drink coffee, tea, coca cola, or any caffeinated beverage prior to coming in for the study. Thanks!
Also, even if your schedule is very busy, please try to get plenty of sleep the night prior to the day of your participation. This is very important so that your brain function will be normal and not sleepy. Thanks!
Also, please do not take any tranquilizers the day prior to or the day of the study, since these could affect the study.
If you wear corrective lenses, please try to wear contacts if at all possible.
PLEASE NOTE: Please minimize the metallic items you wear the day of the study, since we need to be mindful of metal in the MRI environment. If you have any metal implanted in your body (e.g., pacemaker, metal joints, metal plates, dental fillings less than 3 months old), please call the lab and discuss whether we can proceed with the study. If you have piercings (e.g., earrings, navel rings, etc.), please remove them prior to arrival. Thanks!
From Arcadia and East:
Take the 210 to the Lake Avenue Exit. Turn LEFT onto Lake Ave. and take it to Del Mar Blvd. Turn LEFT onto Del Mar Blvd. and take it to Wilson Ave. Turn RIGHT onto Wilson Ave. The Broad Center is the metal/stone building by all of the palm trees right next to the parking lot.
From Glendale and West:
Take the 210 to the Lake Avenue Exit. Turn RIGHT onto Lake Ave. and take it to Del Mar Blvd. Turn LEFT onto Del Mar Blvd. and take it to Wilson Ave. Turn RIGHT onto Wilson Ave. The Broad Center is the metal/stone building by all of the palm trees right next to the parking lot.
From the South:
Take the 110 North through South Pasadena. Turn RIGHT onto Del Mar Blvd. and take it to Wilson Ave. Turn RIGHT onto Wilson Ave. The Broad Center is the metal/stone building by all of the palm trees right next to the parking lot. On the Gold Line Metro Rail:
See the map at http://www.its.caltech.edu/~mmic/visitors/rail_map.pdf. Take the Gold Line toward Pasadena, and get off at the Lake Avenue stop. Head south (away from the mountains) on Lake until you meet Del Mar. Take a left at Del Mar and walk until you meet Wilson. Take a RIGHT onto Wilson Ave. The Broad Center is the metal/stone building by all of the palm trees. If you are heading south on Wilson (away from the San Gabriel mountains), Broad Center will be on your left.

Parking:
Parking will be free and no cost to you. The Broad Center is clearly marked in the top left section of the map. We recommend that you park in the lot adjacent to and just north of the Broad Center and then come to the Emotion Lab to get a parking permit which you can then place on your car. Please do NOT arrive late. If you need to cancel, please give us 24 hours notice.
